Cultivating Eco-education at Lang Creek

Learning in the Garden

Gazebo by Ed Oldfield

Lang Creek Native Plant Garden offers a safe, user friendly environment conducive to learning for visitors, tourists, and students of all ages.

Custom-built student benches are placed along the garden beds to provide seating for relaxation and observation. With clipboards in hand, students work on botanical drawings, maps, worksheets, and treasure hunt check lists.

A rustic, gazebo classroom provides all weather shelter for instruction, demonstrations, and art related activities.

The garden is sectioned into areas of interest with corresponding detailed signage. This arrangement enables small groups, along with their classroom aides and parent helpers, to work undisturbed at individual assignments.

Signage placed throughout the garden enables visitors to enjoy self-guided tours, seven days a week, year ‘round.

The gardens are designed to inspire and share knowledge!
